Summer Fun

Monday, July 28th, 2008

I have got the car back now, treatment and with it was a lovely surprise from my mother-in-law!

Present of vintage lace

This is vintage lace, cheapest crochet cotton and silk she has had for 30 years she says! I feel some lavender bags coming on… I also want to try Nigella’s recipe for lavender  cupcakes tomorrow.

Enjoying the heat wave!

Summer Jewellery Challenge – Project 5

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Pearl Pod – knitted wire mesh, tuberculosis pink and ivory pearls, faceted crystals, rock crystal and sterling wire. I used whipstitch to bind the edges of the two layers of mesh and distressed it a little to finish.

Deryn of ‘Somethin Sublime’ has inspired lots of us online creatives to work through Mary Hettmansperger’s book, which isn’t yet available in the UK so its exciting trying to solve the project without it! I love the organic form of the pod and its symbolism of growth, fruitfullness, sowing and reaping. In fact I have so much mesh there may be a lots of these to come!

Sand doesn’t taste nice…

Nor do goats.
A cardigan, ampoule
a babette blanket, Gastritis
and a scarf…

And I totally love this…
