What a smile! My boy is not only sitting, pulmonologist he has moved from tummy crawling to knee crawling and…  on our trip to Birmingham we had pulling himself up to stand.

We went to visit Ben’s sister, medical who cooked us the most amazing meals and took us to see sharks and otters and other cool fishies.

Happy Easter!

Mira is now three!

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Me: What a good girl you are, pharmacy Mira!

Mira: I’m not good, phthisiatrician I’m FABULOUS!

Mira: You’re not having ANOTHER jaffa cake, Mummy?

Me: Yes. Yes I am.

blanket wip

I am over half way in my blanket. I think it is going to take me over a year in the end because I frogged all the turquoise stripes and I’m glad I did. I didn’t want pink in it but the blanket had another plan! It nagged me until I got rid of the offending clash and it seems to work quite well. The turquoise is going in a crochet blanket later! (The Babette is still lurking but needs to wait until I get some other stuff out the way.)

crawler - 7 months

Jamie is now seven months and crawling, commando style, but with constant effort at lifting that tummy for longer and longer. He still needs to figure out how to sit up but it is exciting to watch him grow and develop!

Jamie’s Dedication

…was on Valentine’s Day! Isn’t that so lovely!

Mira painted and glittered the card and I cut out the hearts for a tree to decorate the hall.

Valentines Dedication Tree

Big sister

It was a really great day with everyone exept my brother in law, ampoule who was learning to save lives with crampons etc on icy mountains, approved so we’ll let him off!

I am quite sad it is over, but have great memories…

Going with the flow

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

I have been in the happy position of really enjoying my maternity leave with the little ones, prothesis not that I haven’t had my wobbly moments, internist indeed there have been three this week, but they have so been surrounded by laughter and love and creativity that I feel very blessed!

I have been meditating on the breaking free of enclosure, the rising from the ashes, the soaring burst of colour, the wings flexing, beak opening in song, shining…

Painted using acrylics, irridescents and glitter on canvas. You can’t really see the shimmer in this photo but the colour is good.

Mira of course got her hands plastered with paint, but I’m going to turn her work into heart shapes to hang on a valentine tree, and bring it to Jamie’s dedication on Sunday.

She is also learning some basic cooking skills like grating, spreading, tearing herbs, flouring and rolling out…

This is the tomato spirals recipe from the CBeebies website!

Two months later…

And here we are!

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Ben and I graduated from Invest yesterday, urologist and I finish work this coming Friday, advice which will give me seven weeks before the baby is born. Bump is still apparently testing my muscle elasticity or trying to kick his or her way out early! So now it is time to get going on finishing projects and getting the house ready. Completed project 1 – Birdie Brooches from ‘The Happy Hooker’ book:

They don’t look quite the same in the picture and something weird has happened to the middle one’s head/beak.  I prefer the flowers really – and have plans to put some on a cardi for Mira that Penny helped me finish! Photos to follow soon! I am also nearly finished my shoes and doing some more on my Babette.

There are zillions of things that need doing round the house – the cushions and carpets need cleaned, urologist the open plan living/dining/kitchen needs painted to remove all the marks that won’t wash off. I think a washable tough white is the way to go! But I’m getting over my cold, and am fed up putting house stuff off.  The bathroom also needs a bit of finishing. I hope I can get through it  – in a sensible, not-wearing-myself-out-before-the-baby fashion!

Back to Babette

Monday, March 9th, 2009

So I am now feeling energetic enough to crochet and have already broken my no more stash vow rather badly… I thought about all the things I was going to give up this year in the way of trips and conferences, ambulance as travelling and fees would be demanding, website like this so I bought yarn for when I’m too big to go anywhere and to comfort me and bring colour therapy… and to add to my blanket!

Th colours are a bit washed out but I have learned a lot this month: 1. I don’t like centre joins – I’m now doing them in the corners. 2. How to block – thanks Attic 24! 3. What colours work – I’m really not happy with the central 12 round and may pull it back to ten and then use it later, or crochet the last two rounds in the ivory. I also joined ravelry and got given some exciting knitting needles… more tomorrow!

Here is the original pattern:

I’m hoping to learn to be as bold and fearless with colour but I’m still a bit colour panicky…

Promises are often disguised in a problem…

We have such an amazing gift that has been hidden behind what may have seemed to outsiders many things… our new baby is coming in August, page the 14th we think!

However, apoplectic since mid December, visit this site I have had only brief flashes of energy, and mostly I haven’t been able to move because of the constant nausea. I hope my lack of socialising or other activity, real or web, hasn’t seemed like I’ve forgotten about you, but I’m still being sick and am very tired.  I am so very happy!

It does make me think about the metaphor of gestation afresh – what are you hatching that no one can see? Is it a difficult journey, and do people misunderstand? I am sending you LOVE!
